Camp Restore this year does not look like a typical summer, but we are working diligently to find ways to make up for that! Here are some highlights!

We’ve all played the game follow the leader.  Whatever the leader does, the rest of the players imitate.  Jump on one foot.  Swing your arms in circles. Even little babies do it naturally.  As they develop, they mimic the actions of their parents.  You may have experienced the play back mode of a small child that repeats something they have heard you say.  Oops, did I say that?

After purchasing and renovating a shelter in Mount Clemens for homeless women, the Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST) recognized the need for a men’s shelter as well. The Women’s League from Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township decided to step in an offer support. With a $140,000 Memorial Trust Fund grant from Trinity, MCREST was able to purchase a building adjacent to the women’s shelter to house homeless men. Once renovations are complete, the building will provide lodging for at least 30 men at a time.

We are in need of volunteers for some upcoming community events. If you are a local supporter of Camp Restore looking for a way to get more involved and meet our community members, this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

As we watch the Boys of Summer, cheering on our favorite baseball teams, I am reminded of the movie Field of Dreams. You’ll recall the main character builds a baseball diamond in the middle of his Iowa cornfield after hearing voices. whisper the above quote. Simply creating the field was not the end of the story. He chases across the country to discover the answer to two important questions. “Why?” and “What happens now?”
