2020 was a challenging year for all of us.  Covid was causing illness or loss of friends and loved ones, closing schools, making us wear masks and altering how we did worship. A mighty disruption to life as we knew it.

Have you ever thought about the following? I want to see my grandchildren grow up. I want to continue living independently. I don’t want to be a burden on my family.

Ephesians 2.10 tells us, “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”  The theme for this week is “The Importance and Purpose of Ministry.”  Ministry is seen as all that we do out of love for others in Christ’s name.  We are created in God’s image so we have been given the capacity to love.

1 Corinthians 12.7 puts it this way: “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” As we continue our focus upon being Fellow Workers on God’s Team, this week we look at “Our Role on God’s Team.”  When God calls us to follow Him and become disciples, we become an important part of His team.

Once again it is a joy to share with you an update on the continued progress and plans of our District’s Here We Stand (HWS) campaign. As you continue to receive and read the monthly reports sent by our Development Department, you have noticed that HWS has been an extremely positive and impactful event in the Michigan District over the past four years.

The Michigan District’s Here We Stand campaign comes alongside urban ministries with funds raised through its Innovative Missional Ministry initiative. These funds, dispersed over a period of years, help our many ministries to connect with their communities, evangelizing and discipling them with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We’d like to take this opportunity to share highlights from some of these ministries.
