Last week, Pastor Carrier spoke at the LWML Convention in Kentucky, sharing the mission of Camp Restore Detroit with people from across the nation.

You have been greatly blessed. Everything that you have is a gift from God. You are the caretaker, the steward of those gifts. You make the decisions what you purchase, what you save and what you give away. God promises to provide what you need. You may have wants and desires beyond the needs.

The Bible teems with joyous, paradoxical truths. God is three in one. God is man. God dies on a cross. The God who visits His vengeance upon trespassers has mercy only on sinners. We die to live. We live to die. The sinner is righteous. The weak are strong.

Campers have arrived! This afternoon, campers from Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City MI arrived at our campus, kicking off our fully booked summer. From now until August 8, we will have campers working in our community and on our campus.

The acronym FAST (Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties and Time) has been used by the National Stroke Association, American Heart Association and others to educate the public on detecting symptoms of a stroke. FAST was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1998.

When was the last time you took a moment to write a love letter? How about a love note to your spouse or a loved one? In today’s world of texting, email and Facebook we often send communication out without a second thought, but our words still have great impact.

On Sunday, we welcomed a group of campers from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. They have chosen to take a week of their summer break to serve in the great city of Detroit and we are so grateful for the help of these students over the week to come! They will be serving alongside community leaders on various projects. Some of these will include community cleanups and tree plantings! God has big plans for these hands and feet and we are ready to Let Love Lead.

This week kicks off our 2021-2022 fundraising campaign! We have spent a lot of time planning and dreaming with our community leaders and Team Restore as we move from simply surviving to thriving financially. This is my personal journey through the struggles of life battling depression and anxiety. It was when I spiraled and crashed, that my life actually began. In my pain, God gave me purpose. In my times of great loss, God gave me life. The journey was not easy, but it was worth every moment. I am sharing this with you, so you will know you are not alone.
