| In my mind, CHRISTMAS is all about COMMUNICATION – God telling the world how important we are to him, how much he values us. John 1.14 tells us, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” And remember, that “flesh” was that of a newborn infant! I have often said that the best way to meet people in your neighborhood (or anywhere) is to walk the streets with a child in a stroller. People who otherwise would not give you the time of day talk to you like they have all day! God coming as an infant opens the door for us to receive him into our arms and hearts … what a BLEST COMMUNICAITON! The WORD of CHRISTMAS is a message of love – God’s incredible, boundless love for you and the entire world. It is the beginning of the story of that love sacrificing all – the luxury of heaven, the might of God, the timelessness of eternity (and more) – to bring love and value, peace and joy, into this dark and dangerous world … into you and your life. It is no wonder that the angels burst into singing, “Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Let earth receive her king” (even though that “king” and “Lord” is just a frail little baby born in a barn. And this is just the beginning of the BLEST COMMUNICATION! God keeps coming to you over and over again … in a myriad of ways … to let you know you are loved and valuable … safe and secure … now and forever. Enjoy your BLESSED CHRISTMAS, my friends. And, if you are willing, communicate as much of this same love to as many people as you can over the year ahead (you know the world needs it). (That’s all for this year, folks!) |
