HIS II is once again participating in the Lutheran World Relief Backpack program. Education is one of the strongest tools a community has for breaking the cycle of poverty. Ensuring that girls attend school, especially in places where their access is deprioritized, has even stronger results. Lutheran World Relief works closely with our overseas partners to determine the best contents to include in kits. School Kits contain essential supplies to help children – and in some cases, adults – continue learning in the face of serious obstacles. That learning leads to a better life for them, their families, and their communities. For more information, go to https://lwr.org/schoolkits.
To make things easier this year, we are asking for cash donations and HIS II will purchase the requested school supplies. A $10 donation will cover the cost of one backpack and supplies. Donations will be accepted in the church office through Monday, September 14, 2020. Checks should be made payable to Saint Thomas Lutheran Church.
