Back in the Swing
On the farm growing up we had a large swing set. As best as I can recall – after all, it was many years ago – it had two swings and was made of either telephone posts or barn rafters. I remember swinging with my two cousins who lived next door, and my brother, Mike. One of them probably could provide a more accurate picture. These days, our granddaughter Brooklyn loves to swing – this picture, whether in her back yard, at Metro Beach, or elsewhere, is very clear to me.
What’s Equitable?
You have been greatly blessed. Everything that you have is a gift from God. You are the caretaker, the steward of those gifts. You make the decisions what you purchase, what you save and what you give away. God promises to provide what you need. You may have wants and desires beyond the needs.

On that day, when evening had come, [Jesus] said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling

Fish Tacos!
I wonder who first thought of fish tacos? I certainly never would have. In fact, I was reluctant to taste them, and only did when a friend offered me a bite of his. Now, I love them. The best ones I have ever eaten come from the Spikehorn at Houghton Lake. In fact, I enjoyed two of theirs last night.
Coming Back and Catching Up
All of a sudden, I have four baptisms and one memorial service scheduled over the summer! And when I look more closely at my notes, I realize there are an additional six families discussing baptisms. My wife is supposed to start physical therapy for her back, but the clinic has no idea when they will be able to fit her in. Their COVID-19 related backup has them overwhelmed. I reviewed my personal and professional calendar and found 19 special events listed between now and Labor Day.

The Paradoxical Church
The Bible teems with joyous, paradoxical truths. God is three in one. God is man. God dies on a cross. The God who visits His vengeance upon trespassers has mercy only on sinners. We die to live. We live to die. The sinner is righteous. The weak are strong.
